Review: This Little Prayer of Mine

My Synopsis:

This Little Prayer of Mine by Anthony DeSefano and illustrated by Mark Elliot

(For review from Waterbrook Multnomah)

This Little Prayer of Mine is a beautiful hardcover storybook for children. It is filled with beautiful illustrations and rhymes that flow off the tongue that are easy to remember. Children will learn so much from this book about God's love and how he answers our prayers even as a little child. They will learn what kinds of things to pray for and how they can trust God no matter what their situation is or what their future might hold.

My Thoughts:

I don't usually review children's books, but this one really caught my eye. The cover is just gorgeous and the rhymes are beautiful. It's a book that I would have loved to have had for my children when they were younger, to help teach them about prayer.

Often, I think we as parents forget that our little ones sometimes need to talk to God too. Something that may seem insignificant to us, may really bother a child. I think the author of the book really understood the kinds of things that our kids may need to pray about. Things that may frighten them or make them sad. I want my kids to know that God is there for them too and I believe this book could be instrumental in teaching that.

This is one of my favorite rhymes from the book:

Whenever I feel really scared and want to hide my head.
Please help me to be brave and strong and face my fears instead.

LOL! I still feel that way sometimes! Prayer is a conversation with God and want my kids to feel like they can talk to him and I loved this book because it gives children that assurance that it's OK for them to seek God too.

This Little Prayer of Mine is available now from this link at Random House.

I'm giving this one 5 out of 5 apples from my Book Bag!

This little book sounds ideal for very young kids and would be an ideal book to start them on.
