Teaser Tuesday (35)

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along. Just do the following:

Grab your current read.
Open to a random page.
Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page.
BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)
Share the title and the author too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they like your teasers.

I generally do mine a little differently. I usually read and review in the neighborhood of 5 to 6 books a week and I like to post a teaser from each one.

Getting There by Gerry Boylan, page 205. She announced with a smile with a smile that pushed her leathered face into a mass of tan wrinkles that it was time for martinis at sunset on "the porch at the Gra-a-a-a-nd!"

Just One Taste by Louisa Edwards, page 75. "Nothing to worry about," Cornell moaned. "This academy prides itself not only on its culinary reputation, but on the professionalism with which we imbue our graduates - a professionalism which you, Dr. Wilkins, have clearly violated by getting involved with a student."

Darcy's Voyage by Kara Louise, page 373. His attentions caused shivers of delight to course through her and prevented her from being able to attend to his words without making a concerted effort. "That... should be fine."

One Child by Jeff Buick, page 180. The man was borderline psychopathic. They needed to work together for the next fourteen days without killing each other. Literally.

Making Waves by Lorna Steilstad, page 250. "You don't really think you have a chance, do you, Andrews?" Dane tugged at the lapels of his striped jacket. Trip shook his head. "Well, let's just say I'll see you at the finish line - coming up behind us."

French Letters: Engaged in War by Jack Woodville London, page 189. The import of Poppy's decision, marry Virginia, go to college, everything Will had ever imagined he wanted, it was all happening, right there in the back room of the Tierra Times.

Perfect on Paper by Maria Murnane, page 57. "Is it true?" he said. I nodded slowly. He sighed. "I was hoping you wouldn't say that.
