Synopsis:

A Billionaire Can Buy Anything...
Colton Nelson was twenty-eight years old when he won the Texas Lottery and went from ranch hand to ranch owner overnight. Now he's desperate to keep the gold diggers away. It shouldn't be too hard to find a pretty girl and hire her to pretend to be his one-and-only.
Or Can He?
Laura Baker's got mixed feelings about this—she's on the ranch to work, not to be arm candy. On the other hand, being stuck for a while in the boondocks with a gorgeous cowboy isn't half-bad.
What neither Colton nor Laura expects are the intensely hard lessons they have to learn about the real cost of love...

Thoughts:

Fans of Carolyn Brown's western romances will be delighted with her latest book, Billion Dollar Cowboy. The first book in the new Cowboys and Brides series. Brown has long been a writer of contemporary western romances and anyone who loves Cowboy's must try one of her books! She knows just how to write the larger-than-life, loyal cowboy character and the strong woman who stands behind him. With a little bit of sass and a whole lot of romance, Brown scores another hit with Billion Dollar Cowboy!

Carolyn Brown has been a favorite of mine since I read the first book in the Spikes & Spurs series. She has a way with writing about the west that is both entertaining and enlightening. I don't think those of us who are unfortunate enough not to live in the west really understand the mentality and the perseverance necessary to work the land. Brown brings it home to readers who may never have been out of the city or even seen a horse up close. She makes the west realistic and accessible.

Brown's characters embody what the west was made of but in a contemporary setting. Her leading men are generally hard working and loyal. They often stand up for what they believe in and prove that there are still gentlemen out there. Brown's heroines are strong women who can stand up for themselves and what they believe in, especially their men. She writes these kinds of characters with backbone and grit and readers can't seem to get enough of it.

Colten Nelson needs a woman to pretend to be his one and only. But that's a tall order, since he recently won the lottery and went from ranch hand to ranch owner. Laura Baker isn't opposed to playing house, but quickly things begin to get a little more serious than either of them bargained for in Billion Dollar Cowboy. I thought Brown did an excellent job of portraying a young man who can't seem to figure out whether someone is after him for his money or if they really care about him. She makes Colten out to be just what he is, a man, who wants to find love, but isn't quite sure if it's real. I really enjoyed this one, as I do all of Carolyn's books. It's the first in a new series, which is great for fans of Brown's work and it will probably bring in a whole new group of cowboy enthusiasts.
