Synopsis:

Everything She Wants...

Working the night shift at the sheriff's office has given deputy Raine McCandless more than enough time to fantasize about the kind of man she'd like to take prisoner, so when she arrives home to find a sexy intruder waiting for her, she's pretty sure she must be dreaming.

...Can and Will Be Held Against Her

But Dillon Taylor, with his stunning blue eyes and killer tan, is 100% real, just not 100% human. Half-man, half-angel, he'd love to answer every naughty prayer Raine has ever had. But Raine is in serious danger. And Dillon can only fulfill her every fantasy if he can keep her alive.

Thoughts:,
Karen Kelley's third book in the Good Girl series, Smoking Hot lives up to it's name. It's a paranormal erotic romance that will have readers turning on the air conditioning it's sooo hot. Fans of the Good Girl series will fall in love with Raine McCandless, a determined officer of the law and Dillon Taylor, the too-good-to-be-true hero. This one should come with a warning that says: prepare to be consumed. It's part paranormal romance and part mystery. A steamy combination in this case.

I like a book that is surprising sometimes and Smoking Hot was definitely that. I had read the other two books in the series. They were interesting and had some really good points, but Smoking Hot was a horse of a different color, so to speak. Certainly the best of the three, this novel has characters that have a lot of depth and intensity. Their stories while not completely normal are consuming. The reader will be swept away from the first chapter. The mystery is captivating and romance is hot.

Raine McCandless is my favorite of the three heroines from this series. She is a take charge kind of girl. She likes to be in control and call the shots, whether it's in the bedroom or out of it. I liked the fact that she was able to eventually let down her guard with Dillon and show a more vulnerable side to her character as well. I thought she was very engaging. Readers will love reading about her.

Dillon Taylor is such a great hero. Not exactly human, but he doesn't have to be. He is able to see inside Raine and understand her like one has before. He doesn't let her get away with anything either. He forces to her to look at herself and see herself in a different way. He was loyal and protective and extremely sexy. I think readers will find him more than a pretty face though. He had a lot of depth to him that is shown in every facet of his character.

Overall the mystery was very engaging. I kept trying to figure it out all along and when it finally came to fruition it made the rest of the story really fall into place. I think this one is the best of the series so far. I don't know if Karen Kelley plans to continue the series, but I hope she does. If her next book is anything like this one it will be an instant hit.

I'm giving this one 4 out of 5 apples from my book bag!

About the Author:

Rosemary Rodgers hooked me on romance with 'Sweet Savage Love'. I consumed books after that until I decided I wanted to try my hand at writing. Not as easy as it looks! But I'd found my niche. I instinctively knew this is what I wanted to do.
Luckily, I'm married to a wonderful man who gives me 100% support in anything I want to try. He not only told me to go for my dream, but he encouraged me not to give up.
And the dream did become reality. Wow! I still have to pinch myself. I love being an author!
