Synopsis:

She Always Wanted to be One of the Boys...
Sybella would do anything to prove she's just as valuable to the MacKenzie clan as her brother is. She'd go on any hunt, take any dare. But her father has a different sort of mission in mind: marriage. It's simple, he explains. All she has to do is marry Alexander MacDonell and report back on his family's secrets. It will be easy, he says, as long as she doesn't do anything foolish...like fall in love.
Until She Got a Man...
As laird of the McDonell's, Alex has a duty to produce an heir. It's a duty he won't mind with the lovely Ella as his wife—even if she is one of the dreaded MacKenzies. He's wooed and won many ladies, but Ella is a challenge like no other. He can tell she's holding something back. But not for long. Because inch by inch, he plans to expose everything she's been hiding and claim the ultimate prize: her heart.

Thoughts:

Victoria Roberts brings readers another Bad Boy from the Highlands. Laird Alexander MacDonell is the hero in her latest book, To Wed a Wicked Highlander. Roberts enchants readers in her latest novel, which is a fast paced, Scottish love story. Her knowledge of the Highlands and it's people is evident on every page, from Gaelic phrases to the strength and determination of her characters. Roberts weaves a story of love and betrayal that readers won't be able to put down. An excellent addition to a wonderful Highland series!

Castles and clans and kilts... oh my! One thing is for certain, I love Scottish romances. There are several reasons for this and Victoria Roberts' highland characters always satisfy. Being of Scottish ancestry I love it when an author gets it right. Roberts obviously loves the highlands and it's spirited and fiery people. She writes her characters with spice and spunk and a with a depth of emotion that is unexpected and captivating.

Laird Alexander MacDonell first appeared in the first book in the Bad Boys of the Highlands series, Temptation in a Kilt. Readers were given just a glimpse of this highlander who is strong and courageous and full of surprises. In To Wed a Wicked Highlander Alex is having a spot of trouble with the neighbors. He and the members of the MacKenzie clan do not see eye to eye on many things. But it is time Alex takes a wife and the MacKenzies have a plan...

Roberts writes Alexander as a man whose intelligence and understanding are immeasurable. He is being given a wife from a troublesome clan. It could be the first step in mending some fences or it could be a trap. I liked the fact that he wasn't expecting much when it came to Bella and that she surpassed his expectations by far. Roberts wrote him as a man who wants happiness, a family and a loving wife. But he is also a shrewd man, who understands his responsibilities as the head of his clan. I loved him, he was a great character, sexy, surprising, loyal and he had a sense of humor.

Sybella was an interesting character. I wasn't too sure I was going to like in her in the beginning. She has an inordinate need to please her father. Almost as if she would do anything to make him proud of her. It made me believe that she was somewhat insecure in herself. But as she deals with the uncertainty and the misunderstandings of her fathers ways throughout the book, Sybella grows so much. Readers will see her come into her own and start to believe in herself and in her ability to make her own decisions. Alexander helps her to embrace her capabilities and her emotions. They find a lot of pleasure in each other and in the simple things in life.

Roberts starts this novel off with a bang and the pace does not slow down throughout the book. It is a quick light read that will make readers smile, while also making them wonder when these two spirited highlanders will find common ground. I shed a tear or two with this one, which is a rarity considering how many romances I read in a years time. It was well crafted and well written. An excellent example of good highland characterizations!
