Synopsis:

Carolyn Brown's New York Times and USA Today bestselling cowboys prove that love is bigger in Burnt Boot, Texas
She's got too many cowboys on her hands
Leah Brennan has always been the good girl of the Brennan family, groomed to become the matriarch of the clan. When a dark-eyed, tattooed, ponytailed bad boy saunters into her life, Leah knows he's off-limits-but his mesmerizing gaze makes her forget everything she used to think was important. As town-wide tension rises, Leah wonders if love really can conquer all...

And the whole town's taking sides
When Rhett O'Donnell roars into Burnt Boot on a hot July evening, the first thing he sees is a beautiful blonde. She puts a little extra giddy-up in his heartbeat, but when Rhett's desire throws him into the middle of a love triangle and a hundred-year-old feud, he realizes that winning his cowgirl's heart will be a lot more complicated than he thought.

Thoughts:

Carolyn Brown takes readers back to Burnt Boot, Texas in her latest book, One Texas Cowboy Too Many. Fans of the author know that when it comes to cowboy romances, Brown is one of the best. This is sweet, sensual romance that happens to be taking place in the middle of a one hundred year feud. Humor abounds, sexy characters explode off the page and Brown scores another hit. A great new book from Carolyn Brown!

What I liked:

This is what I always like about Carolyn Brown books. Great characters! Brown somehow knows what a reader believes a cowboy or a rancher should be like. I think it takes a certain kind of person to understand the lifestyle and the way of life that Brown writes about and she does it with such ease. Her cowboys are real men. They don't shy away from responsibility. Family means everything and being apart of something that is bigger than yourself is just part of the daily routine. When I think western or cowboy romance, I automatically think, Carolyn Brown.

Brown obviously had a great idea when she created the Burnt Boot series. Many readers are familiar with feuding families whether it's their own or some other family, like the Hatfields and McCoys. Readers are also aware that ranching is notorious for being one of those businesses that tends to foster bad blood. It's an interesting premise, but what makes it so fun to read about in this series, is the humor that goes along with it. The Brennan's and the Gallagher's take feuding to a whole new level. Their antics are both ingenious and hilarious in most cases. But they are soooo serious about it. Took some great skills to pull this one off and Brown does it well.

Leah Brennan is a school teacher, but she is also the future of the Brennan family and with that comes a lot of responsibility. Including finding the right man to bring into the family. Leah is kind of a rebel though, she first has her eye set on a Gallagher and that's a big no-no. Then Rhett O'Donnell blows into town and the game changes, big time. I liked Leah a lot. She has a lot on her plate, but she is sassy and feisty and she knows what she wants and isn't afraid to go against convention to get it.

Rhett was in interesting character. He rides into to town on a motorcycle with horns on the front. He is back to help the family with the local bar and the ranch. He has long hair, a ton of tattoos and he isn't Leah's families first choice for her. I liked his character for a lot of reasons. He doesn't seem to be your typical cowboy. He is eccentric and unique and that's sometimes hard find in a western romance. Someone who doesn't fit the profile sticks out like a sore thumb, but in this case that's a good thing.

What I didn't like:

From the blurb and the title of the book the reader will probably expect a bit of a love triangle. The book is represented in that way, but it really didn't come across. There is someone else in the picture, but he certainly wasn't a real factor in the story. If I have a complaint, it was that the book was misrepresented in a manner of speaking. Don't get me wrong... I loved the book, but I wasn't exactly marketed in the way I would have liked. The blurb and title didn't really get to the heart of what the book was about.

Bottom Line:

Despite a bit of a marketing mix up, this is a great book. Carolyn Brown just has a talent for writing this kind of story. The humor in this one really sets it apart from the pack. It could come across as over the top a little bit, but I think that just  makes it all the more fun. Who would have thought that a family feud could be this much fun to read about? Carolyn Brown did... and it's paying off for her, big time!
