Synopsis (Barnes & Noble):
"The pattern of a quilt will always lead you back home."
Trixie Lynn Parks changed her name to Emma, shook the dust of Twilight, Texas off her shoes and vowed to make it in the big city. But after twelve years of shattered dreams, she heads back to the ladies of the True Love Quilting Club... and to her first love, Sam Cheek.
Some things - and some people - sure have changed. Sam has grown from a carefree boy to a single dad. And even though the chemistry between them sizzles hotter than ever, Trixie Lynn quickly discovers she must choose between the fame and the fortune that have finally come her way - or the one true love who has the power to mend her patchwork heart.
Thoughts:
This is the second book in the Twilight, Texas series by Lori Wilde. The True Love Quilting Club is a contemporary romance about getting a second chance at love and a second chance at your dreams. Wilde is a writer that has a gift for writing stories that mimic real life. Stories about real women, facing real problems and finding love in a world that sometimes isn't easy to find the good in.
Trixie Lynn Parks is back in Twilight. She was certain she had what it took to make it in the big city with it's bright lights and temptations. She was going to be star! But, things didn't turn out the way she planned and now she's come back to Twilight to pick up where she left off. Only things have changed a bit more than she bargained for. The young boy she loved and left behind is now a single father who is looking for more than just a fly by night relationship. When Trixie gets the opportunity of a lifetime she must make a hard decision. Chase her dreams or take a second chance on love?
I really enjoyed this book. The author has a knack for writing heartwarming books with characters that are fun to read and will remind you of yourself or someone you know. I like to read books about supernatural and strange characters, but it's nice to read some about everyday people and events also. Stuff that could really happen in other words. I like contemporary romance for just that reason. Lori Wilde is an author that writes with a sense of simplicity that is easy to understand and makes for a nice light read. Good for a lazy Saturday or a day at the beach or just curled up on the couch with a cup of coffee and a blankie.
Trixie was an interesting character. She wanted nothing more than to make it out of her little small town of Twilight, Texas. She wanted the bright lights and big city dreams. But, I think she forgot about what she was leaving behind. A good man, good friends, a community that cared about it's own and wanted to see them succeed. When she came back she began to think about whether or not the "big life" was worth it. It's hard decision sometimes. I liked the fact that Sam was willing to take on the responsibility of raising a child on his own. Single parenthood is not easy... He understood what he was looking for in life and what kind of woman he wanted to be with. Sometimes is takes more than chemistry, which he definitely had with Trixie.
I would recommend this one to romance lovers of all kinds. It's a great feel-good novel that makes you think about what's really important in life.
