Synopsis:

As the women in the Dirty Girls Book Club open each new selection of erotica, they also open up their minds to sexual adventure…

Lily Nyland married sexy bad boy Dax Xavier because he made her dreams come true—in bed and out. But after a decade of marriage, her helicopter bush pilot husband spends more time in the remote wilderness than heating things up in her bedroom. The best sex she’s enjoyed recently comes from the Dirty Girls Book Club’s erotic selections.

Still, when the club chooses Bound by Desire, Lily’s skeptical. As a family practice doctor and a fiercely independent woman, the theme doesn’t exactly resonate with her. But then Dax, home for the Christmas holiday, startles her by spicing up their sex life with naughty tricks that make her wonder if he snuck a peek at her book. Even more shocking, Lily finds herself turned on by their erotic experimentation. Kinky sex may be enough to rekindle the passion in their marriage, but can it restore the deeper bonds of love and trust?

Thoughts:

Savanna Fox brings readers the third book in her Dirty Girls Book Club series, Bound to be Dirty. As each book selection is made for the book club, each member gets to tell their story. Book three is Lily's story, which focuses on how to put the passion back in a marriage that seems to have lost it's mojo. Fox does an excellent job of showing how adding a little kink can get things back on track. Readers who are looking for a steamy romance between a married couple will love this one.

What I liked:

Avid readers often join book clubs. Usually, they choose a group of friends or a group that reads the kind of books they enjoy, whether that is a specific genre or author or some other criteria. Fox has created a series based on that idea. The Dirty Girls Book Club reads erotic fiction. They choose a book and then discuss it, as most book clubs do. What's interesting is the way that Fox ties each selection into one of the stories of each of the main characters. I like the fact that whatever they are reading about somehow ends up as the basis of what is going on in their lives. That was a great idea and I think it is proving to be very successful for Fox.

In this book, Lily is having some issues with her husband, when the book club chooses a BDSM title as their next read. She is skeptical about the book, but agrees to give it a try, never knowing that it may have a profound effect on her life. Her husband is away with his job often and they have lost the romantic and sexual spark they had when they married. I really enjoyed the fact that Fox chose to use a married couple for this book. Passion in a marriage often the key to couples sticking it out even through the rough times. And I do believe variety and trying new things is the key to keeping things interesting in the bedroom. Fox did an excellent job of conveying that.

Fox writes some very sexy scenes between Lily and her husband Dax. Once he figures out what book the girls are reading and what the subject is, he takes matters into his own hands and tries something new in the bedroom, with some pretty awesome results. Fox has a way with writing erotic scenes that will raise a readers temperature. But there are also moments of levity and humor in this book. Though it is erotic and has that focus, that is not the only element the author uses to move the story forward. Fox strikes a good balance and readers will appreciate her attention to detail.

What I didn't like:

There wasn't really anything that I specifically didn't like about this book. For me it was okay. It was good, but perhaps not quite earth shattering. It had some great moments but the pacing a bit slower than I would have liked. I didn't drag, it just didn't grab me and cause me to hang on for dear life.

Bottom Line:

This is good erotic fiction. Fox chooses a great theme for the series and for this book. Passion in marriage is critical and I thought she did a good job with it. The main characters were believable and how they added kink to the bedroom was not beyond the normal spectrum for this kind of book. Readers who love eroticism between two committed partners will enjoy it.
