Synopsis:

Today’s premier New Adult authors combine their talents to tell four original stories from inside one house.

When four girls decide to live off campus together as juniors at a college in Michigan, they expect it to be their best year yet. Little do they know, it’s a year that will change the rest of their lives.

BEHIND HER EYES by A.L. Jackson
Unable to live down her ex-boyfriend’s deception, Misha is determined to avoid betrayal. When, the new guy next door, Darryn starts to get under her skin, her defenses start to crumble. But trusting Darryn seems impossible, especially if he’s not sure he can trust himself.

SAVING ME by Molly McAdams
On the outside, Indy is always ready for a party—but inside she’s breaking. Kier makes a weekly routine of saving the girl next door from herself on Saturday nights… but when will she be ready to remember him on Sunday morning?

FOULING OUT by Tiffany King
Working at a sports bar, Courtney has become a pro at sidestepping propositions from arrogant jocks—which makes her a more elusive catch for campus basketball star Dalton than he expected. But when he falls for the saucy waitress, Dalton will have to rethink his game plan to prove he’s not the jerk Courtney expects.

BENEATH YOUR LAYERS by Christina Lee
In order to ace her fashion internship, Chloe must team up with local college dropout and set builder, Blake—much to her chagrin. But after some "hands-on" experience, Chloe will have to ask herself if Blake factors into her carefully laid plans…

Thoughts:

When We Met is tells the story of four college roommates as they navigate college, romance, trauma from the past and discovering who they really are. Four short stories, written by four new adult authors, with a smooth flow that will make the reader think it is one complete novel. It's hard to tell where one author ends and another begins. The action and romance is seamless and readers won't be able to put it down. This is a great sample of the new adult genre that will have readers talking!

Behind Her Eyes by A.L. Jackson

A.L. Jackson starts the book off with a story about a girl who has had her sexual life broadcast all over school by a cruel boyfriend. Misha is a courageous young woman who comes back to face the music and with the help of the new roommate next door, Darryn, finds peace and acceptance within herself. A great story of self-discovery that was romantic and emotional.

Saving Me by Molly McAdams

McAdams brings readers the story of a young woman who hides her pain by drinking, sleeping around and other self-destructive behavior. Indy has a lot of pain in her heart and Kier only wants to protect and keep her safe. He is constantly taking her home and putting her to bed, though she doesn't remember his care and sweetness. I loved these two characters, both with tragic histories, yet finding something in each other that they both needed.

Fouling Out by Tiffany King

King's addition to the book is a story about two friends who have a sorted past. Courtney doesn't like sports anymore, not since her best friend Dalton dumped her for his basketball team. This is a great friends to lovers story that has that second chance at love feel to it. King did a great job with the characters and provided a very realistic new adult story.

Beneath Her Layers by Christina Lee

Christina Lee gives the reader a story about two people who couldn't be more different. Chloe and Blake come from two different places in their lives. At first they can't stand each other, but when work puts them together along with a good game of Truth or Dare, the flirting and banter is irresistible. Loved the dialogue and general happy feeling of this story.

Bottom Line:

If you are a fan of New Adult writing you can't go wrong with this book. Four great authors. Four great stories. A.L. Jackson's story was my favorite. I really felt for Misha and what she experienced but each and every story was well written and fit so well together. I can't imagine how all four authors were able to write with the same tone. An amazing book!

I'm giving this one 5 out of 5 apples from my book bag!

I've never read a collection before, but I think it would be a good way to find new authors that I haven't discovered yet. Thanks for the chance!

Sometimes I like collections. I've read a few anthologies that were like teasers more than books. I know.. I know. Its kinda the point. But if that teaser isn't taken and turned into a bigger book you are left with only a piece of the puzzle. I need a definite ending to really enjoy it.. even if it is a short story. :)
