The Friday Spotlight will focus on a blog that I've run across in my blog roaming that doesn't have a big following yet. I will spotlight the blog and let my readers know about the reasons why I like the blog and what it has to offer. Hopefully, it will garner that blog some new followers and my readers a new place to visit for more book blogging fun.
This weeks spotlight blog is: Blog O' The Irish
Blog O' The Irish currently has 94 followers!
There are so many things I like about this blog I hardly know where to start!
First of all, I am of Scottish decent and anything to do with what my grandfather would call, "The Old Country" peeks my interest. Whether it's about Ireland, Scotland or other places in that general area. My youngest daughter's birthday is the day before St. Patrick's Day and my grandmother was actually a St. Pattie's baby. So, that tends to be one of our favorite holidays around here.
When it comes to reading, books set in Ireland and Scotland tend to be some of my favorites, so I really enjoy CelticLady's reviews, which tend to focus on Irish authors and books set in Ireland. I have found so many books to add to my Wish List on her blog, it isn't even funny!
CelticLady is a Wisconsin blogger with a penchant for all things Irish! She even has a count down to St. Patrick's Day and the current Dublin time on her sidebar. She currently has a couple of giveaways going on, including 3 copies of The Yellow House by Patricia Falvey and a giveaway coming up March 1st for the first book in the Irish Angels Series, Heart of Stone by Jill Marie Landis. I can't wait to sign up for that one!
CelticLady also has another blog, Changing Seasons, where readers can find information and posts about the 2010 Winter Olympic games in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. I am a big fan of winter sports and love to watch all the Olympic coverage and find out about all the stories of the competitors. Check this blog out also, you'll be glad you did.
CelticLady has a goodreads, To Be Reviewed shelf, a place to visit to play Celtic Mahjong (I love that game!), several different giveaways from around the blogsphere, an Irish favorites list from Amazon, and an Irish Fiction pick list from Amazon. These are just a few of the interesting things you will find on the Blog O' The Irish sidebar.
There are Irish quotes and historical information about what happened in Irish history on this day, what CelticLady is currently reading, as well as information about Irish culture and customs and a plug for her daughters business, Lucky Loofah's and Lather. Some very interesting products on that page.
Blog O' The Irish is participating in 100+ Reading Challenge, The 2009/2010 Lisa Jackson Reading Challenge and the 2010 Ireland Reading Challenge, several of which I intend to enter next year. I have so many challenges that I want to try!
I think one of my favorite parts of this blog can be found near the bottom. CelticLady who is most obviously Irish, has a list of sites that she has found during her Quest of Ireland where readers can go to find out more information about Ireland.
I really enjoy this blog a lot and I believe anyone who goes there will see how much work has gone into this blog! I can't recommend it enough. So go check it out, there's something for everyone!
