Synopsis (Courtesy of Barnes & Noble):

This Christmas, Emily Merkle (call her Mrs. Miracle!) is working in the toy department at Finley's, the last family-owned department store in New York City. And her boss is none other than... Jake Finley, the owners son.

For Jake, holiday memories of brightly wrapped gifts, decorated trees and family were destroyed in a Christmas Eve tragedy years before. Now Christmas means just one thing to him - and to his father. Profit. Because they need a Christmas miracle to keep the business afloat.

Holly Larsen needs a miracle, too. She wants to give her eight-year-old nephew, Gabe, the holiday he deserves. Holly's widowed brother is in the army and won't be home for Christmas, but at least she can get Gabe the toy robot from Finley's, the one gift he desperately wants. If she can figure out how to afford it...

Fortunately, it's Mrs. Miracle to the rescue. Next to making children happy, she likes nothing better than helping others - and that includes doing a bit of matchmaking!

This Christmas will be different for all of them.

Thoughts:

Emily Merkle, Mrs. Miracle is back in this years Debbie Macomber Christmas book. I really love the fact that Debbie does a seasonal book each year, I really look forward to them and Mrs. Miracle is one of my favorite characters. Macomber has created a real niche for herself, with heartwarming, wholesome stories about people you could meet in your own neighborhood, but Mrs. Miracle is a little different, she has a either a bit of pixie dust at her disposal or maybe it's a halo, but she certainly lives up to her name.

In Call Me Mrs. Miracle, Emily Merkle finds herself working in the toy department. That would seem a logical place for her at Christmas time since helping children is her specialty. But, this time it's the adults in the story who need all the help they can get.

Jake Finley doesn't celebrate Christmas, even though it's the their biggest selling time of year. No presents, no tree decorating, no carolers! Two years ago his mother and sister were killed in a car accident on Christmas Eve, and it has never been the same since... It's up to Mrs. Miracle to make him see that Christmas means more than just making a profit. Holly Larsen has a problem this Christmas. She is taking her of her widowed brothers son while he is away in the army. He can't come home this Christmas and all his son wants besides that is a robot from Finley's that cost more than she could ever afford... It's true that Christmas is a the season of miracles, but it's also a season of love.

I really liked the idea of crossing Mrs. Miracle with Miracle on 34th Street. I thought that was just ingenious. This is a very inspirational and heartwarming book, just what you need for a great seasonal read. It puts you in that Christmas spirit and gets you ready to head to the stores for Christmas presents. They already have the trees and ornaments out here! This book made me want to curl up in front of the fire with a cozy blanket and a cup hot chocolate. I liked it a lot. Debbie Macomber is definitely a favorite author of mine.

Call Me Mrs. Miracle is available NOW from your favorite bookseller.

I'm giving this one 4 out of 5 apples from my book bag!

When Debbie Macomber started out she was a young, dyslexic mother of four who wrote in her kitchen on a rented typewriter. Years later, shes the blockbuster bestselling author of dozens of heartwarming novels that celebrate love, laughter, and the bonds of family and friendship.
