Synopsis (Author's Website):
HE'S PURE TEMPTATION.
Cordelia has sworn she'll refrain from looking into Michael's future - particularly when the image in the gilded smoke of her divination mirror shows him half naked. Yet she can't resist watching the sexy rascal slowly running his hand down his ribs, over his abdomen, flicking open the button on his jeans with a little flourish like a magician performing a trick.
SHE'S TRYING TO RESIST.
Respectable wise woman Cordelia restrains her secret water nymph sensuality withe the Celtic symbols painted on her skin. But Michael's powerful fairy glamour leaves her breathless, off balance, struggling for control. When Gwyn ap Nudd , the Welsh King of the underworld, steals away Michael's infant nephew, Cordelia must work with him to save the child. But how can she trust her instincts with Michael tempting her to explore the hidden elemental depths of her nature and insisting that she believe in the power of... The Phoenix Charm.
The Phoenix Charm is the second book in Helen Scott Taylors, Magic Knot Fairies series. I reviewed the first book, The Magic Knot earlier in the year, and really enjoyed it and was highly anticipating reading book 2. Helen Taylor Scott has created a world that readers will want to return to time and time again. Her characters are engaging and full of life, they seem to jump off the pages of her novel.
In The Phoenix Charm, Niall and Rose the Pisky King and Queen have had a child. The story centers around Michael, Niall's mischievous brother, with the help of wise woman Cordelia must rescue the child from the Welsh King of the Underworld. Cordelia is struggling to keep her water nymph sexuality under control, but with Michael's fairy glamour she hasn't much of a chance. He completely enchants her makes her want to find out more about herself with him.
I really liked the way the author was able to take the Magic Knot one step further. She did not completely leave the characters we loved from the first book, out of the second. I have have read so many books from different series' lately that are completely unrelated to the first book, that it's kind of sad. The reason we read a series is because we want to feel connected to the characters and I think that Helen Scott Taylor really got it right with this one.
Michael was such a playful and wonderful character in the first book and now we have his story in the second book. He is what one would totally expect a fairy to be like. Mischievous and playful, full of passion and ready to tackle anything. He is gorgeous and very, very sensual. Cordelia is perfect compliment to him. She is a wise woman, who always thinks before she acts, she is full of purpose and yet she trying restrain a part of herself that Michael touches in a profound way. her water nymph sensuality lies just below the surface and Michael is determined to bring it out.
I loved this one, and hope there will be a third!
